Case Study: NDSS Mobile App

Organisation Overview.

NDSS (National Diabetes Services Scheme) was launched in 1987 as an initiative of the Australian Government, administered by Diabetes Australia. The NDSS provide support services and information to people living with diabetes. The scheme is open to all Australians diagnosed with diabetes and is free to register.

Project Scope.

Develop a solution tailored to satisfy Western Australians living with diabetes, which will enable prompt treatment and medication to be acquired via the nearest pharmacy.

Mobile App Purpose.

  • To create a timely device that produces registered pharmacies whom supply diabetes medication.
  • A simple interface that can be accessed by the general population with just a few swipes to find the most convenient pharmacy.
  • To display pharmacy opening hours; allowing people to save time and prevent the likelihood of driving afar to only find the pharmacy is closed.

Mobile App Requirements.

To attain the maximum benefits of the app, it requires to user to provide location access, which is purely used to give directions or suitable recommendations to nearby pharmacies.

Mobile App Solution.

All registered pharmacies that provide diabetes medication across Western Australia have been implemented to the NDSS Mobile App. This enables all people living with diabetes in Western Australia to access timely information on what pharmacies are in close proximity, how to find the nearest pharmacy, whether they are open and even displays contact information for people who prefer to phone ahead.
